For some reason my Morsel Mondays seem to center around the more expensive accoutrements I happen to run across, (I know you are not amazed) should you ever tire of them you need only to let me know.
But for now, I am on a roll..so please, no one stop me!
"Great loves too must be endured." CoCo Chanel
I have many loves in my life and great passions too of course, and I have shared a few of them with you: touring majestic mansions, classic fashion, the actor Robert Taylor (a girl can still dream, no?), Dirty Martini's and Bugatti's-not necessarily in this order mind you.But I forgot to disclose one more key passion I indulge in on a daily basis, a simple one, as most women often do: donning one's pulse points with an elegant fragrance.
My mother taught my female siblings and me the importance of a woman dressing well and above all having a lovely feminine fragrance against the skin as a lady should.
My mother's signature scent was Estee Lauder (I loved it when it was in the wearing off stage) when I was child and she dabbled with a few rare ones as well.
My mother was quite the classic and always left an enticing, wafting feminine scent each time she moved, this my family and I remember well.
"A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting." Christian Dior
But now is the time to reach for the pinnacle, the brass ring, deliv
er the coup de gras..and acquire the most expensive perfume in the world, Clive Christian's Imperial Majesty or No. 1 as it is often called. The British born designer of interior goods and perfume (and the most discriminating taste) created the limited edition scent at a cost of $215,000 per bottle.
The 16.9 ounces of perfume appear in a Baccarat crystal bottle complete with a 5-carat diamond in the 18-carat gold neck of the vessel.
And as if that is not enough, you must know it takes 200 extremely rare ingredients to make ONE DROP of No. 1, how is that for exclusivity?
A great deal of women prefer not to smell their fragrance greeting them as they walk down the avenue, most of us prefer a niche fragrance that is hard for anyone to discern, No. 1 delivers and then some.
It was reported this was the fragrance gracing Katie Holmes's skin during her high profile wedding to fellow actor Tom Cruise, as well as being present at Sir Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball, so you would certainly be in good company.
For years I have been asked what fragrance I wear and often times I hesitate because I enjoy the mystery behind them not knowing, but I shall divulge (for the sake of the article) that I am a Bulgari woman-I know, you just knew I was going to say Clive Christian, not yet, I will have to think about Clive's fragrance for a bit, I am sure you will ponder the same. He is a tad pricey.
As for his No. 1 fragrance in the Baccarat crystal bottle, unfortunately he only released five for sale during 2008, the rest are in his archives.
You can tr
y and become a close friend to Clive or purchase the fragrance (<-don't forget your Centurion card) for around $865.00 for a less than concentrated spray, just not in the exclusive Baccarat bottle..unfortunately.So gentlemen, a refined woman's nose knows an exclusive scent from an over the counter one any day of the week, month of the year.
So for the sake of those behind her on the train, the subway, or in the elevator next to her, I admonish you to think twice before reaching for that lovely bottle of musk oil or flowery substance that happens to be on sale..remember her nose knows the difference!

Good morning Kimmy.......Oh....I do love fragrance. Some of those you have mentioned could take a man's breath away.
When I was younger I would never get caught dead without some fragrance.....adorning my skin....but alas, as I have gotten older MY NOSE DEFINITELY KNOWS and I get sent into sneezing attacks. (O:(O:
Hugs,
Jo
You know, if it was drinkable...it might be perfect.
As usual, your taste is exquisite. And a tempest of applause for your choice in fragrance--Bvlgari. May I inquire as to your choice of poison there? Eau the vert? Eau the blanc? Omni? The signature? Have you had the fortune of smelling the Petits et Mamans scent? Baby powder...made for women with young children.
Fragrance means much to me. Quite a vehicle for passion and memory.
KSA
Hello My Grama's Soul,
How incredibly sad for you. I honestly feel undressed if I do not have a fragrance on my skin.
You have my deepest sympathy my dear lady.
Have a lovely rest of the week Jo, cheers!
Greetings My Dearest K.S.,
I honestly thought you would think such, you are sooo bad!
I am pleased to know you approve of my fragrance, I am strictly Eau de Toilette for now, it seems to adore the makeup of my skin, or so I am told.
When you pass a perfume counter do let me know what you think of it, will you not?
Love the nod to baby powder-I just absorb your brilliantly perceptible humor, more please!
Ahh K.S., "fragrance.. quite a vehicle for passion and memory."
You are my heart's poet.
Cheers.
Wait a minute, I think I'm getting a wee bit jealous of KS!
Greetings James,
You are wonderful for a woman's soul!
Between the two of you my manicured feet may never touch earth again.
Goodnight my dear friend, cheers!
$215,000 for a bottle of perfume ?? OMG that's insane !
I do like my more exclusive fragrances but I don't think I'd ever be able to afford that bottle; and even if I did - it would be SPARINGLY used ! LOL
Bvlgari Eau de Toilette for the classy lady that you are :) I can just smell you right now !
Like you, I prefer not to disclose my secret scent .. the brand that I love and that just blends with my skin is no longer being manufactured :( it's been replaced with a lighter scent of the same fragrance .. but I'm preserving what's left behind ;)
Wow, I would love to smell this. It must be the most amazing thing ever! I can't get over that price!!
Hello Dazediva,
It is a bit much but a great investment considering Baccarat, diamonds and gold will only accrue in value-but I would prefer a much larger vial of perfume.
You are so sweet, I do love Bvlgari so much, I actually purchase it in doubles to make sure I do not run out at any time! During the summer months I actually put one bottle in the refrigerator for a bit so when it goes on it feels heavenly!
I love that you have your scent as well and did not disclose it, smart lady you are, keep it close to your vest my dear!
Have a lovely Tuesday DD, cheers!
Greetings Poppies and Sunshine,
It is heavenly-I was privy to a small sample sent to me a few years ago.
The beauty of this fragrance is that it has serious staying power, which is what I crave in a lovely scent.
But the price is a bit astronomical, which is why I LOVE it! :-)
Here is hoping your future is filled with Imperial Majesty bottles P and S, cheers!
Hi Kimmy,
I love this post, especially the things about your Mom. My Mom was the same, she so loved wearing perfumes and wore Estee Lauder also. When ever I smell that I so think of her . I love Channel No. 5 and know all the Channel products are created so well. I guess I am weird but I like a strong scent, I don't care if the people around me think its too strong, the world has so much stink to it that perfumes are much needed :) Thanks again for fabulous post, have another divine week sweetie.
Bonjour JANN,
I am so pleased you love the post, I adore perfume in all its glory and knew it would resonate with other women as well.
Your mother sounds like a true classic just like my mother was, it is very hard to smell Estee Lauder now because my mother is no longer with me, though I keep her close in my heart, always.
I must say, I love a strong scent sometimes as well, especially in the fall and winter months-I do not personally set out to offend anyone with it but I love it when it begins to wear off a bit.
You are most correct in that there is so much filth in the world today-I am reminded of the women in the 18th century when they use to wear a ring with a hidden chamber filled with solid perfume. Whenever they passed garbage on the street they would flip the top open on the ring and sniff it whilst passing the garbage pile quickly, handkerchief in hand.
I love the feminine ways of that era.
Thank you so much JANN for sharing with me the memories of your lovely mother, I feel a sister ship with you, cheers!
My all-time favorite fragrance is Spellbound by Estee Lauder. I loved wearing it because I loved the scent, but my husband is sensitve to everything, so I don't get to wear anything anymore.
Hello Andrea,
Spellbound is a lovely scent, how disheartening you can never wear it again.
Love truly does conquer all!
Thank you for your time and comment Andrea, I truly appreciate it.
Have a lovely evening and remember..you still have your memories of Spellbound, cheers.
I loved this article, Kimmy!!!! :) :)
Thanks for sharing your signature scent with us! How exciting! :) I DO believe that you can learn more about a woman from her scent, than from her handwriting. :)
I don't admonish Chanel # 5 these days, though, just because everyone who "wants" to be classy, will wear it and will think that just because they are wearing it, they are automatically classy. It's become somewhat of a social climber's scent, these days. :)
I'm a Vera Wang girl. :) I love my signature scent. I'm not telling which one, though! :p
But....I stick to a signature scent for only as long as it's still left in the bottle. After I've used it up, I move on to a new signature scent. :) That's just because I am evolving so much, and I see no reasons to bind myself into one mold. :) But who knows, I may fall in love with a scent so much that I'll decide to stick with it! Maybe! ;)
Love,
C
Greetings C,
You are most welcome, it was a bit hard to share my scent but sometimes I have to divulge something for the sake of the article, it was my pleasure.
I would hope women would not believe that wearing Chanel No.5 garners them status automatically, a sense of style and culture are born and bred within an individual at birth I feel, at least that is my thought on the subject.
Vera has a lovely scent, now I know a little more about you, it fits your personality well!
Many years ago, my signature scent was Paloma Picasso--but I quickly tired of it so I completely understand you varying your scents according to your station in life.
Thank you C for sharing with me today--it is not easy divulging personal information about oneself, even your choice of perfume! :-)
I hope you and yours are well, have a lovely Wednesday, cheers!
"a sense of style and culture are born and bred within an individual at birth I feel" ... I agree completely with you!!!!! :) :) :) COMPLETELY!!!!!! :) :)
My signature scent has been one of the scents by Vera Wang, you have to guess WHICH one.... hehehhehe .... but.... today I am changing my signature scent. I loved my Vera so much.... there is just a thrill I derive from a new perfume bottle, the new olfactory experience (i think that a scent can literally affect and add to your daily experiences in life) and I just want to change again today. My Vera Wang scent is almost all up, so it's just about time, anyway.... :)
I could go on and on about this subject (hehe) .... I love to talk about it! Oh, I am now wondering which Bulgari scent you wear.... (but I guess you will never tell which one, eh?)
When I was in Italy, I was overwhelmed by how much women are into perfume! There's perfume or sale EVERYWHERE and all the women are always buying bottles of it! oh my goodness!!!! I should've bought some over there, then! They have everything! There's this one scent I saw when I was there that I can't find over here... by Hermes... it was so divine! I'm so stupid for not buying it! grrrrrr!!!!
love,
CC
Hello CC,
Of course I will not divulge exactly which one but it is in the line in a large bottle--enough of that one! :-)
Love that you are switching scents already, choose wisely.
I am not planning a trip to Europe until next Spring but will fully take advantage of the lovely shopping to be had there, including perfume and rare books.
How did you leave there and not purchase any parfum as they say?
You have serious will power my friend, I would have shipped a couple of crates back along with a lovely Italian gentleman or two! :-)
May your Thursday be a lovely one CC, cheers!
